Premier League Gets Government’s Approval to Continue the Season

DBasia.news – Premier League’s plan to continue the 2019-2020 season on June 12 gets good news from the government. The plan was reportedly approved by the British government.

The British Government did not specifically give it. But the issuance of a policy to allow sports events to be held again starting June 1st is enough to answer.

Reported by The Telegraph, the British Prime Minister, Boris Johnson has issued a plan regarding the easing of lockdown rules. Organizing sports events including one in it.

The government’s decision received positive response from the CEO of the Premier League, Richard Masters. He said he was ready to answer this belief by working to secure the competition from the threat of the corona virus.

“We welcome this first step and are ready to play our part. We are working with clubs and stakeholders to create a model that is responsible, safe and can be delivered to complete this season,” the Masters said on the official Premier League website.

“Of course, safety is paramount. We must listen to the government, authorities and medical experts and continue to follow their advice.”

Premier League has indeed prepared a protocol called Project Restart to complete the 2019-2020 season. Some of the contents are still being discussed with related parties including the club in order to run optimally.

The Premier League has been suspended since mid-March when the pandemic was set. The participating clubs will still play nine to ten more matches to complete the competition.

This news certainly makes Liverpool relieved. Their chances of winning a normal title are wide open because they only need two more wins.
