Real Madrid becomes Champion, Supporters are Prohibited from celebrating

DBasia.news – Real Madrid officially sealed the Spanish League championship title 2019/2020, Friday (07/17/2020) am. Los Blancos won after a 2-1 victory over Villarreal at the Estadio Alfredo Di Stefano.

Madrid who collected 86 points were unable to be chased after Barcelona who earned 79 points with one match remaining. In almost the same time El Barca also lost 1-2 when hosting Osasuna.

This title is the 34th LaLiga trophy in Madrid’s history. The Spanish capital club also successfully ended the dominance of Barcelona who won LaLiga for two consecutive seasons.

Normally, the Madrid squad will celebrate this title at Plaza de Cibeles. But that was not possible as Spain are still applying social distancing rules to break the chain of the spread of the corona virus.

The club has also issued an official appeal to supporters to not come to Plaza de Cibeles. While the police have prevented it by installing barricade fences and placing officers on location.

As a result, only a handful of Madrid fans came to Plaza de Cibeles. They also did not cause a scene and choose to convoy by their vehicles.

This scene is very much different from what happened when Liverpool won the Premier League title 2019-2020, June 25. At that time, around 2,000 supporters of the Reds gathered around Anfield, ignoring the social distancing rules.

Though the club had an appeal to stay at home. However, this is understandable considering this is their first Premier League trophy in 30 years.
