Real Madrid
DBasia.news – Real Madrid showed another inconsistency. In the latest match, Los Blancos got defeated 0-1 against Leganes in the second leg of Copa del Rey, Thursday (17/1). In fact, Real Madrid have changed the coach from Julen Lopetegui to Santiago Solari.
The only goal from the match came from Martin Braithwaite at 30′. However, Madrid went to the quarter-final due to the 3-1 aggregate goal dominance after the 3-0 victory in the first leg at Santiago Bernabeu.
Indeed, Madrid qualified for the next round. But, seeing the inconsistent performance, it’s normal that the fans worried about the team’s chance for the upcoming matches.
“They all needed to get playing time, they got it. We got through the tie, but the performance was weak. Sometimes we try things and if they do not work, we try to improve them,” Solari insisted after the match.
That was the 10th defeat of Madrid in all competitions this season, the first one since the 1998-1999 season, the worst under Guus Hiddink.
From 32 matches this season of all competitions, Madrid got 10 failures. Furthermore, from 8 of 32 matches, Madrid didn’t score any goal.
The failures exceed the total lost last season, the last period Cristiano Ronaldo supported the team. Playing 62 times of all competitions, Madrid won 39 times, draw 14 times, and defeated 9 times.
In the 1998-1999 season, Madrid finished as the runner-up of LaLiga under Barcelona and Hiddink sacked in February 1999 due to his critics.
What makes it worse, this season, it’s only Huesca who got conceded more than Madrid of all the competitions among LaLiga teams. Huesca got conceded 44 goals and Madrid 37 goals, just like Levante and Rayo Vallecano.
“It was a good defeat because we still qualified and we know that there is no such thing as an easy game. Are we tired of winning? It is funny for me to hear you say that because we always play to win,” said Madrid midfielder Casemiro.
