Real Madrid Legend Refuses to be Called Guti

DBasia.news –  The Real Madrid legend, Guti, does not want to be called by that name but instead Jose Maria Gutierrez.

He himself requested that people no longer call him by that name. The legend confirms that it is not his name so there is no reason for people to call him by that name.

“One important thing, I would be glad if you called me Jose Maria Gutierrez, not Guti as everywhere I go I always hear ‘Guti, Guti’ and my name is Jose Maria Guiterrez,” said the former midfielder as quoted from AS, Saturday (7/12/2019).

The rejection of the man who now serves as coach of Almeria is indeed surprising. The reason is that he has long been called Guti. Even when he was still playing in Madrid or Besiktas, the name continued to stick.

Cases like this actually are not the first time to happen. Previously the former Inter Milan player, Gabigol, also experienced the same thing. The difference is, he did not ask himself to be called Gabriel Barbosa, but the coach.

The story began when Gabigol was loaned by Inter Milan to Benfica in the 2017-2018 season. Benfica coach at the time, Rui Vitoria refused to call the Brazilian player as Gabigol.

Not only that, Rui Vitoria also asked his club to name the player’s to Gabriel Barbosa. At that time the coach stated that he did not understand why the player who had just brought Flamengo Copa Libertadores to be champions was called Gabigol.
