Real Madrid lost Rp2.5 trillion due to Corona Virus

One team from Spain, Real Madrid had to stop all activities in an effort to prevent the spread of the Covid-19 virus. This decision will certainly affect the performance and the financial of the team.

After one Real Madrid basketball team player, Trey Thompkins, was tested positive for the corona virus, the team immediately dismissed all employees until an undetermined time.

One business named the Bernabeu Tour had to also be stopped for health reasons. This has been a financial threat to the team as they had to lose several sources of income.

Real Madrid must also be willing to lose other income due to facing the corona virus outbreak. The team, as reported by the AS, is estimated to have lost revenues of up to 150 million euros or Rp2.5 trillion. This amount does not include revenue from ticket sales and participation in competitions.

Zinedine Zidane’s team still has six to eight matches this season. The income from one football game reaches up to four million Euros. If totaled with eight matches, Los Blancos must lose around 32 million euros or Rp539 billion.

The Spanish football federation claims it has not been able to confirm how long the Laliga would be halted due to the Corona virus. This is certainly a serious threat to Real Madrid, as the team must continue to pay employee’s salaries. Last season Real Madrid had to pay salaries, bonuses and social security up to 394 million euros, which is equivalent to Rp.6.6 trillion.
