DBasia.news – Diego Costa, Atletico Madrid striker, got the consequences of his actions with the referee in the match against Barcelona in the LaLiga match at Camp Nou, Sunday (7/4). Costa was banned for eight matches.
Diego Costa got a red card in the 28th minute against Barcelona. Meanwhile, El Barca came out as a winner after winning two goals without reply.
The Spaniard was sent off after issuing an inappropriate sentence to referee Jesus Gil Manzano. Costa, who looks emotional, continues to press the referee. Luckily, at that time Gerard Pique came and tried to reduce Costa’s anger.
Now, Costa has to pay dearly for the action. The Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) confirmed giving a ban on eight matches to Costa.
Furthermore, the RFEF explained that the punishment received by Costa was divided into two. The ex-Chelsea got a four-match ban after issuing inappropriate statements about Jesus Gil Manzano’s mother. Meanwhile, the other four games were the fruit of the action of the player pulling Jesus Gil Manzano’s arm.
The RFEF gave the next 10 days for Los Rojiblancos to appeal. Until now, there has been no official statement from Atletico Madrid.
After the match, Diego Simeone also commented on Costa’s red card. He feels aggrieved by the referee’s decision. “Other players have said many things and did not get a red card,” said Simeone.
If the penalty does not get relief, Diego Costa is expected to be sidelined until the end of the season. In fact, Costa will not appear in LaLiga’s opening match next season.
This makes the position of Atletico Madrid increasingly difficult chasing Barcelona at the top of the standings. Lionel Messi and his friends were 11 points ahead of Atletico who finished second.
