DBasia.news – The Barcelona midfielder, Riqui Puig, was promoted by Ernesto Valverde from La Masia to the first team this season. Although he rarely played this season and had a chance to leave, the 19-year-old didn’t want to leave Barcelona.
The midfielder born in Matadepera, 13th of August 1999 did not mind staying at Barcelona and playing in the Barca B team next season – if not chosen by Ernesto Valverde in the first team. Following his father’s advice, Puiq did not want to move next season.
“I want to be in the first team, but I don’t determine it, the club that determines it. If I have to be in Barcelona B for the next season, in Segunda B, it won’t be a problem. I won’t give up,” Puiq said.
“As my father said, outside the Barca is ‘cold’ and you can’t leave if they don’t eject you,” Puiq continued.
Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola, is reportedly continuing to monitor the progress of Puig. However, that did not change his decision to stay with the Blaugrana.
“If I have to go to Manchester, then there will rain every day. Here the sun is there every day. I think my teammates don’t see the future, they have to go. Some of them are very well developed,” Puig added.
“They told me that I have a special playing style. I can play for other teams, but the characteristics that I have, make me even better at Barcelona. So, I will continue my career here; 15 years career in Barcelona,” he concluded.
