DBasia.news – Mike Ashley, the owner of Newcastle United, confirmed that Sean Longstaff was not for sale. The comment was addressed to Manchester United who were eyeing the 21-year-old player.
The Red Devils are the only club that is eyeing the British player. In addition to targeting Leicester City defender Harry Maguire to be brought in this summer after recruiting Daniel James and Aaron Wan-Bissaka, United are also eyeing Longstaff.
However, after selling Ayoze Perez to Leicester City for 30 million pounds, Ashley insisted Newcastle would not sell players again. Also included with Longstaff.
“The message is we want to emphasize that he (Longstaff) is not for sale. If you have players like Sean – keep him,” Ashley said, quoted from Goal.
Newcastle some time ago broke the club transfer record by recruiting Joelinton from Hoffenheim for 44 million euros. The 22-year-old Brazilian plays as a center forward.
“You look around (Newcastle training center), you want to bring that place to life, enliven it. I hope we don’t end up with Joelinton,” hoped Ashley.
