Singapore-based Fulham players threatened to be Prisoned

DBasia.news –  The loss to follow-up from military service will be subject to sanctions in certain countries. The sentence overshadowed Ben Davis, a young Singaporean who played at Fulham. This was confirmed by MINDEF (Singapore Ministry of Foreign Affairs).

In Singapore, there is military service after 18 years of age. It is an obligation to obtain a permanent residence permit for the second generation of Singapore citizens.

Meanwhile, Ben Davis was absent from the obligation. As a result, the 18-year-old football player threatened three years in prison.

Ben Davis is also fined 10,000 Singapore Dollars (Rp. 103 million). That condition is certainly quite embarrassing for Davis who became the first Singapore player to join a Premier League club.

MINDEF rejected Ben Davis’s request for concession. They reasoned Davis had no difference with other people who went to school or worked abroad.

The Singapore Football Federation (FAS) was disappointed with Ben Davis’s attitude. They assume the player does not show a sense of responsibility.

“This is an irresponsible attitude from Ben Davis. Previously, Davis and his father had guaranteed that they would take part in the compulsory military and perform for the Singapore national team,” FAS wrote.

“Ben Davis has lived in Singapore for a long time and has benefited a lot from here. FAS supports Ben Davis, but remains in military service,” the paper continued.

Ben Davis pressed for a two-year professional contract with Fulham. MINDEF considers Davis to leave Singapore without official permission.
