DBasia.news –  Manchester United officially completed the transfer of Harry Maguire from Leicester City. The Red Devils manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, considers him one of the best center-backs in the world today.

“Harry is one of the best center-backs at the moment and I’m glad we secured his service,” Solskjaer said on the official Manchester United page.

Maguire, 26, was reportedly recruited at 80 or 85 million pounds, making him the world’s most expensive defender transfer record. The former Sheffield United and Hull City player was contracted for the past five years with the option to renew a season at the end of the contract.

“I am happy to sign a contract with this great club. I enjoyed my time at Leicester and want to thank everyone at the club, and also the fans, for their fantastic support for the past two years,” said Maguire.

“However, when Manchester United is knocking on your door (making an offer), then this is a very great opportunity.”

“From my conversation with the manager, I am interested in the vision and plans for the team. It’s clear that Ole built a team to win the trophy. I am now looking forward to meeting with my new teammates and starting a new season,” added Maguire.

Maguire gives a different color to the game at United’s backline. Solskjaer describes his ability to read the game and build attacks from the backline.

“He can read the game well and is a strong figure when competing, with the calmness of playing under pressure – calm when controlling the ball and tough on defending in his zone – I can see it according to the team on and off the field,” added Solskjaer.

“He has great character and is a fantastic addition to the club. I want to welcome Harry to Manchester United and we look forward to working with him immediately and preparing for the new season,” he concluded.

Maguire’s arrival made the central defender’s position crammed with player stock. Besides Maguire, United still have Marcos Rojo, Eric Bailly, Victor Lindelof, Phil Jones, Chris Smalling, and Axel Tuanzebe. Competition in these lines will be tight.
