DBasia.news –  The Premier League club, Newcastle United, is still looking for a manager to replace Rafael Benitez in the transfer market this summer.

The vacancy in the coaching chair has made the public curious about who would be the successor, lastly the former Manchester United and Chelsea manager, Jose Mourinho denied the news that he would become the new manager of the Magpies.

Now another name that is no less shocking has reappeared. According to the Liverpool Echo report, Steven Gerrard is rumored to be a prime candidate and has a great chance to coach Miguel Almiron and mates from the upcoming 2019 season.

After deciding to retire as a professional footballer in 2016, Gerrard immediately decided to be in the managerial world, before officially managing his current club, Rangers, the Brit also had time to train the Reds academy.

Unfortunately, Newcastle’s opportunity to make Gerrard as a new manager seems to be going through a steep road, besides himself who is still bound by a contract until 2022, the player who almost left for Chelsea in 2005 has also confirmed his commitment to continue to stay at Ibrox Stadium.

It doesn’t seem strange if Newcastle’s leaders assume that Gerrard deserves to be a successor to Benitez, even though he has only been a manager for one seasons, the 39-year-old man successfully led Rangers to end the 2018/19 season in second place.

Steven Gerrard is not the only name the club considers to be Benitez’s replacement, other names such as Patrick Vieira and Mikel Arteta are also claimed to be in the target.
