DBasia.news –  Leaving January can be interpreted as the end of the winter transfer market. The entire club is now fully focused on looking at half of the 2018-19 season to reach the target set by the club.

In the Premier League, only Tottenham Hotspur who did not bring in any new players in January. Spurs became the first Premier League club not buying any new players in two consecutive transfer windows.

This winter’s transfer window, especially in the Premier League, feels quiet. This can be seen from the amount of money that has been circling until the window ends.

According to the data from Sky Sports, the amount of money spent by Premier League clubs on the 2019 winter transfer market have decreased to 140 million pounds or 70 percent compared to the previous season. Yes, last January 2018, the Premier League clubs recorded a total spending of 465 million pounds.

The decline also occurs in the amount of money that is coming from selling their players. For the winter transfer market this time, Premier League clubs only earn 99 million pounds. Compared to the previous period which reached 373 million pounds, player sales has decreased by 74 percent.

One of the factors that makes the money rotation drop sharply is the dominance of loaning players transactions. One of the biggest examples is Chelsea who borrowed Gonzalo Higuain with a permanent option from Juventus and Denis Suarez who were loaned by Arsenal from Barcelona with a similar scheme.

Despite bringing in Higuain by loaning, Chelsea is still the club with the highest expenditure on the transfer window this time. This is not separated from the purchase of Christian Pulisic that is worth 57.6 million pounds from Borussia Dortmund.

Under Chelsea, there is Bournemouth that’s reported have spent 31 million pounds to hook Dominic Solanke from Liverpool and Chris Mepham from Brentford this winter.

And, at the end of the exchange, Newcastle United stole the attention by issuing 21 million pounds to bring Miguel Almiron from Atlanta United. This is Newcastle’s most expensive purchase record since 2005 when they brought in Michael Owen for 16 million pounds.

For matters of selling players, Manchester City became the team that has collected the most money. Manchester City earned a total of 33.3 million pounds from selling Brahim Diaz to Real Madrid and Rabbi Matondo to Schalke. While Liverpool earned 19 million pounds from selling Solanke to Bournemouth.

Interestingly, although in the two transfer markets this season did not spend any money, in January 2019 Tottenham Hotspur managed to get 9 million pounds. This fund is the results from selling Mousa Dembele who left to the Chinese team, Guangzhou R & F club.
