The story of Roberto Carlos and the former Coach who almost failed his career

By db-admin

DBasia.news –  Roberto Carlos is one of the best left-backs in the world of all time. At Real Madrid, the player who is famous for his long-distance kicks has become a legend. However, Carlos’s success story almost failed because of his coach at that time.

Reported by Marca, Roberto Carlos tells the important point in his career. The point where he finally anchored at Real Madrid and became a legend.

In 1995, Carlos arrived in Italy when he joined Inter Milan. At that time Inter’s boss, Massimo Moratti, decided to recruit Carlos with Paul Ince and Javier Zanetti.

In the first few games, Roberto Carlos immediately shined. He displayed a game that is full of power, speed, and a samba-style techniques as a left wing. Even Roberto Carlos was able to contribute a goal.

However, the results achieved by Inter did not meet expectations when Roy Hodgson entered as coach.

“Roy Hodgson destroyed me,” Roberto Carlos stated.

“He forced me to play in the center as a midfielder. If it were like that, I would not have gotten a chance to play with Brazil. Even though it was ahead of the 1997 Copa America.”

The conflict between Carlos and the coach who currently coaches Crystal Palace is inevitable.

“It’s not so bad. But he doesn’t know much about football,” Carlos continued.

“For Hodgson, Roberto Carlos is a player who lacks discipline when playing as a left back and prefers Felice Centofanti in that position.”

Next, Hodgson chose not to play Centofani. Instead of returning Carlos to his position, Hodgson decided to play Alessandro Pistone.

Since then Carlos has began to think of leaving. “I spoke with Moratti. I said I wanted to leave.”

Then came an offer from Real Madrid, which he was then handled by Fabio Capello.

“I came to Madrid for Capello. He is the most important coach in my life.”

With Madrid, Roberto Carlos stayed for 11 seasons since 1996-97. For 11 years Carlos was instrumental in helping Madrid win various trophies, including four times LaLiga and three Champions League.
