DBasia.news – West Ham United had to lose dramatically to Manchester United in the 2021-2022 Premier League. This match left a deep impression on Declan Rice.
In the match which took place at Old Trafford, Saturday (22/1), West Ham had to be defeated by a score of 0-1. The one point they should have obtained, disappeared after Marcus Rashford scored a goal in injury time.
These results has made West Ham thrown from the top four. Ironically, they were replaced by Manchester United.
Rice actually performed quite well in this match. He struggled to guard West Ham’s midfield in the face of a wave of attacks from Manchester United for most of the match.
No wonder this defeat affected Rice. He considered West Ham deserved a point.
“We are heartbroken. We fought really well, so I think a draw would probably be a fair result,” Rice told Sky Sports.
“To lose after counter-attacking in the last 30 seconds and conceding a goal, it was a real hard kick.”
Praising Old Trafford
Even so, Rice did not contain his admiration for the Old Trafford atmosphere in this match. Manchester United fans did give their full support to their idol team.
Old Trafford rumbled when welcoming Rashford’s goal. That moment was hard for Rice to forget.
“Every time I come to Old Trafford, I always say that this is one of my favorite places to play. It is an incredible stadium,” said Rice.
Rice still enjoys the atmosphere of Old Trafford despite playing as an opponent. His feelings may be more touched when he gets that support.
It’s no secret that Manchester United have been interested in Rice’s services since last summer. The player’s praise for Old Trafford seemed to be a indication for the English giants to ask for his hand.
