DBasia.news –  Thomas Meunier, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) right-back, is considered by Manchester United to be the ideal substitute for Antonio Valencia.

Previously, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer announced Antonio Valencia would leave Manchester United. The Red Devils will not extend Valencia’s contract.

At first, Antonio Valencia who played as a wing striker was recruited to replace Cristiano Ronaldo. In fact, Valencia had received the number seven.

However, slowly the 33-year-old player changed his position to right-back. Unfortunately, Antonio Valencia’s age is no longer young so Manchester United felt it was time to find a replacement.

Understandably, Manchester United only have two players at the right-back position for the moment. Both are Ashley Young (33 years) and Diogo Dalot (20 years).

The age difference between the two is considered to be too wide so Manchester United reportedly has felt the need to find a bridge. The Red Devils were linked to Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

However, they have changed their minds. According to The Sun’s report, Manchester United were suspected of making Thomas Meunier the first choice at the right-back position.

Incidentally Thomas Meunier is losing his place at PSG. A series of injuries has been the reason the Belgian player is often pulled away from the main squad for Les Parisien.

If recruiting Thomas Meunier, Manchester United will reap the benefits. As Meunier can play in several positions such as right-back and midfielder.
