Threatened to be without spectators, Premier League teams can lose a substantial amount in the 2020-2021 season

DBasia.news – The 2020-2021 Premier League season will kick off this weekend. Even so, large amounts of losses have haunted the participating clubs if the match was to be held without spectators attending the stadium.
The first week of the 2020-2021 Premier League will still be held behind closed doors. This is because the corona virus pandemic is still unable to be controlled.
The Premier League targets October as the moment spectators will be able to return to the stadium. For starters, the number will be limited to around 30 percent of the seating capacity.
However, the plan is in danger of failing. The reason is that the British government will implement new rules related to social distancing.
Later, the British public will be prohibited from holding meetings or gatherings of more than six people. This rule is planned to take effect next week.
This condition has caused the Premier League to worry. Richard Masters, as the chief executive, admitted that clubs would suffer losses that could amount to 700 million pounds (Rp 13.3 trillion) if the spectators did not return to the stadium.
“We have to get the fans back into the stadium as quickly as possible. We need the fans back in the stadium for many reasons and that is the main priority,” Masters told the BBC.
Masters recognizes the main task of the Premier League at this time is to carry out 380 matches on schedule and to keep all the parties involved healthy. But returning the crowd to the stadium is equally important.
In addition to livening up the atmosphere of the match, the club’s finances were also helped by the benefits of tickets. Holding matches without spectators for a full season certainly threatens the future of the competition and the participating clubs.
“Financial problems are very real. Economic uncertainty is ahead and we just have to have a clear plan and stick to it,” he concluded.
