Toni Kroos Rejects the Idea of Salary and Staff Cuts
By db-admin
DBasia.news – Real Madrid player, Toni Kroos, disagrees with the idea of salary cuts of football players related to the postponement of all matches following the corona pandemic. According to the player, there are still other ways to fight the corona virus.
Barcelona and Atletico Madrid are LaLiga clubs who have confirmed that they will cut their salaries by up to 70 percent. The move was taken to save the club’s finances amid the corona virus crisis.
Meanwhile, Real Madrid have not taken any decision. El Real’s steps have received full support from Toni Kroos. The German midfielder considers cutting player salaries is a futile step.
“Cutting salaries is a futile contribution, or to a club. That should be an option for everyone to consider. I think it’s better to get a full salary and then do the right thing with it,” Kroos told the SWR Sport podcast.
“I don’t think it’s necessary here. Another thing is the question of what I do with all the money I get? We all have to help where help is needed. There are many places where help is needed right now.”
Toni Kroos’s statement is in line with the opinion of Derby County captain, Wayne Rooney. The former Manchester United player thinks it’s better for the players to receive their full salary, then to give some to fight the corona virus.
The corona virus pandemic has stopped most of the football competition in Europe. So far, there is no certainty when the competition will resume. In fact, the discourse is developing for permanent termination.
