U-17 European Cup Final Meet the Netherlands vs. Italy

DBasia.news –  Two countries with a large tradition of strong football, the Netherlands and Italy, will clash with each other in the Under-17 European Cup final which will take place at Tallaght Stadium, Sunday (19/5) night Western Indonesian Time.

Netherlands have made it to the final after leaving group B as runners-up with six points, one point below France and above England (four points) and Sweden (without points).

In the quarter-finals phase, Peter van der Veen’s Netherlands met with Belgium and won a landslide score of 3-0. Playing 4-3-3 tactics, the Netherlands continues to maintain the tradition of playing a total voetball style.

Liverpool’s 17-year-old defender, Ki-Jana Hoever, became one of the young talents who drew attention throughout the tournament. Positioning as a center-back or right-back, Hoever played quite mature at a very young age.

The Netherlands then won 1-0 over Spain through a goal created by Mohamed Taabouni at the UCD Bowl on Friday (17/5) early morning Western Indonesian Time. The Netherlands hold a favorite status against Italy in the final later.

While   Italy Carmine Nunziata’s directions qualify for group D with the top standings with perfect scores: nine points. Italy qualify with Spain (six points) and are above Germany (three points) and Austria (without points).

In the quarter-finals, Italy, who played with 10 players, won 1-0 heroically through a single goal scored by Franco Daryl Tongya Heubang. Matteo Ruggeri an Italian player who was given a red card in the 90+ 6 minutes.

In the last four, Italy were able to beat France 2-1 through goals from Sebastiano Esposito (45 + 1 ‘) and Iyenoma Destiny Udogie (81’), which was reduced by Enzo Millot’s goal in the 41st minute.

The final meeting will be awaited. The Netherlands, with their offensive football, and Italy who rely on effective games with strong defenses. Uniquely, the Netherlands and Italy are finalists of the 2018 U-17 European Cup which took place in England.
