DBasia.news – Camp Nou is not a strange place for Liverpool defender, Virgil van Dijk. During the Champions League semi-final leg between Barcelona and Liverpool on Thursday (2/5) 2:00 a.m. WIB, Van Dijk spoke of his memories playing at Camp Nou.
Liverpool will face a tough test from Barcelona. Barca will be the strongest opponent for the Reds so far.
Inevitably, Liverpool are hoping for Virgil van Dijk to stem Barcelona’s deadly attack. Moreover, the Dutch national team defender had faced Blaugrana before.
However, memories of Van Dijk when facing Barcelona had a minor tone. While still defending Celtic, Van Dijk lost with a score of 6-1, December 2013. In fact, at that time Barcelona did not play Lionel Messi.
“It is a good stadium, historic and for me a great experience to perform there. This is the next opportunity, so I hope to play against one of the best teams in the world,” said Van Dijk, Sky Sports reported.
“However, this will be very different when I last played there. I saw a few videos, but a 6-1 defeat, as a defensive player, you cannot say to look good,” explained Van Dijk.
“However, the good thing for me personally is to take a lot of experience that night. I believe that will help a lot,” he said.
Virgil van Dijk was chosen as the PFA Premier League 2018-2019 best player. The ex Southampton beat other stars like Eden Hazard, Sergio Aguero, Raheem Sterling and Bernardo Silva
