Real Madrid was eliminated from the Copa del Rey after being defeated by Real Sociedad in the quarterfinals.  Zinedine Zidane did not feel that he had made a mistake regarding his team’s formation.

Madrid vs Real Sociedad match at the Santiago Bernabeu on Friday (2/7/2020) early morning Western Indonesian Time, ended badly for the host.  Los Blancos had fallen behind 0-3 before finally losing 3-4.

In that match, Madrid was not strengthened by a number of pillars such as Casemiro, Dani Carvajal, or Lucas Vazquez.  While Eden Hazard and Gareth Bale are still injured.

Zidane gave an opportunity to several coatings to appear as a starter.  Brahim Diaz, James Rodriguez, and Alphonse Areola played since the first minute.

Zidane dismissed the notion that Madrid lost because of the rotation of the players he did.  He considered there was nothing wrong with the team he sent.

“When I chose a team, I thought it was a team that could perform well,” Zidane said as reported by ESPN FC.

“It’s easy to argue after the game. I don’t think we made mistakes about the team selection.”

“It’s true that the opponents play well, they score first, and we make mistakes. But that has nothing to do with the line-up or the team,” Zidane said.
