DBasia.news – Zlatan Ibrahimovic broke the record in the United States Premier League (MLS). Not about achievement or goals, but about income. The Swedish striker confirmed himself as the highest paid footballer in the tournament.
The status was obtained by Ibrahimovic after receiving an increase in income in the 2019 season. This year, he reportedly received a salary of USD7.2 million (around 102.7 billion).
According to the MLS Players Association (MLSPA) report, Ibrahimovic experienced a salary increase of USD 1.5 million from his first season joining the Galaxy.
The amount of salary Ibrahimovic received this season surpasses the previously held salary record, Sebastian Giovinco. He received a salary of USD7.1 million in 2017 and 2018.
Meanwhile, the second highest income this season is held by Giovani dos Santos. Although he was released by the Galaxy in March, he remained in the list of the second highest salary players as he received compensation of USD 6.5 million from the Galaxy.
The two former Ibrahimovic teammates at Manchester United are also included in the top ten list, namely Sebastian Schweinsteiger and Wayne Rooney. Schweinsteiger was ranked sixth (USD5.6 million / around Rp79 billion). Whereas Rooney is ranked ninth with revenues of USD3.51 million or around Rp50 billion.
